Contour line

Exercise 1

The first steps when working on artificial skins will start with the basic back and forward movement exercise.

Make the movements at first with a soft pencil on the entire white A4 sheet. Hold the pencil so that you can hold the needle at an angle of about 45 degrees and 90 degrees. Create lines that run along the entire length of the page, you can take breaks every 1.5 cm. If you can already feel the stability of the movements, and as a result, the line is perfect and crisp, you can go for exercises on artificial skins.

Prepare latex, pigment, wet wipes and needles for exercise. Test different latex, it is important that when working with your pigments they do not get too dirty, this will interfere with your work. If you have a problem with removing the pigment, you can help yourself by wiping it with Vaseline.

Make a minimum one latex a4 big with the same lines as you made with pencil and look the effects. Practice movements at 45 and 90 degrees. Go to the next stage only when your technique is correct and the lines are straight and evenly saturated.
