The truth is that Permanent makeup if done right can take years off your client’s face, help your clients do makeup with ease or they may not even need to do any makeup at all, it can be really amazing for some people.

Some of the questions many may ask include:

What is permanent makeup? Is it really safe?

PMU techniques are cosmetic tattoos and they are becoming increasingly popular. The technique used to make them is dermopigmentation, which is basically skin coloring. Unlike tattoos, dermopigmentation is a subepidermal technique. It does not reach the deepest layer of the skin (the dermis) and that is why it is semi-permanent; it does not last for life, but after a few years the process must be repeated.

What can be achieved with PMU technique?

It serves to attenuate imperfections. For example, PMU can be used when there is not much hair on the eyebrows, because of a bad pre-waxing, a scar etc. With permanent makeup, you can get perfect shape, and perfect color, so with natural result.

How is PMU performed?

The procedure is performed with a pencil, the lines of the face or area to be treated are defined and then the pigment is applied. The session can last from 30 to 90 minutes, depending on the surface and the level of detail required.

Many clients are satisfied with this type of procedure. Clients can make a decision to have permanent eyelid eyeliner. The Permanent makeup artist will design the eyebrows and lids. The key to success of this type of procedure could be to go to a place that has the necessary permits and choose specialists in the subject. Before carrying out any micro-pigmentation process, it must be borne in mind that good pigments are very safe and dermatological tested, and when applied properly, it will never result in any form of scars or dermatitis. Hence, there is a dire need for PMU artists to be well trained in the field.

PMU is a very good option because women do not have to be retouching every day and look very well presented. There are other people that are allergic to makeup and cannot use it daily.  These set of people will find PMU a great option.

Pregnant women, cancer patients, patients with diabetes and patients with coagulation problems should not undergo dermo-pigmentation. This also applies to those with active herpes anywhere on the body.

To prevent infection and accelerate healing, you must avoid any heat treatment - bath, sauna, massage, solarium, warm, swimming in pools (14 days) or consummation of alcoholic drinks within 48 hours after the long-lasting makeup procedure.

5 precautions for Permanent makeup artists

1. Verify well that the needles and instruments are new and used only once because they can acquire infections. Inquire from your clients if they have very sensitive skin that can cause scars.

2. Choose the correct outline according to the type of face of the client.

3. Tell your clients to schedule the appointment when they do not have the menstrual period. Because at that time, the woman is more sensitive. It also influences the threshold of pain that the same person has.

4. Educate your clients to comply with regulatory care such as aftercare instructions - avoiding sun exposure, constant cleaning of the area, abstaining from foods with high sodium content because they facilitate fluid retention and therefore leads inflammation.

5. PMU can last for three years and retouching can be done within one to one and half year.
